Default What is this electrical gizmo under driver side dash?

New truck to me, 2004 2500. I noticed something laying on top of the hood release, so I removed the knee bolster and found this thing.... it goes somewhere in the vicinity because the wire is short, and it definitely looks like a dodge harness part with the red locking tab. Looks like it fits over something, and one of the attachment tabs is broken. Anyone able to clue me in?

Is anything not working? Like a blend door? Since the harness is so short, you can't see anything obvious in the general vicinity?

Everything HVAC door wise works. Nothing obvious, else I wouldn't be asking I have no idea what that thing is.

Unplug it and see what happens.

B I N G O ! THANK YOU !
I just tried it and yes it'll shift out of park without touching the brake. Thanks, I'll pick one up at the junkyard, if I can locate it under the donor dash
I assume it must be on the column or shift linkage somewhere.

Swapped the jyard unit in last week, works fine. Its under the knee bolster, clips into the side of the cable and points straight down. Not sure why the original connecting tab broke off, but its good to go now. There was a hole drilled in the bolster, so maybe someone just hit it when they were screwing around. Thanks for the help !
