Hello everyone how are you!! I am new to this forum, so thanks in advance for the help!

I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 V6 reg cab manual... I want to it to make a little more power, for speed and towing.. I was wondering what are some good ways to upgrade and about what the price or maybe suggest some brands to look into.

I was thinking adding an intake, and duals coming out of the back.. the more flow the more go.... Thanks guys!

 

First of all, welcome to DF. Just FYI, there is a V6 section just for you guys

On to your questions. You can always go with a CAI and a TB upgrade, however, I would stay with the stock exhaust. For one it is well made and secondly, if you open it up you will lose the precious torque that gets everything moving for you.

 

does the hemi upgrade count ?

hahaha I wish lol... I am 20 so my pocket book couldnt afford a hemi right now, but I look to upgrade to that a few years down the road!

Welcome. Up in the v6 discussion section there is some question about changing out the muffler, which has the best sound. But the universal consensus is that an after market muffler will help performance out some (I don't mean racing performance -- I mean throttle response)

I believe I have the flowmaster 40 series, the Flowmaster 50 series people seem to recommend the 50 series for the v6 so it will not have the tinny sound at the higher rpms.

As much crap as v6 drivers get for driving a v6, you wonder what the problem with the Hemi drivers is, but I believe it is all in fun. The only Hemi that came with a manual trans was in the 2500; and the performance numbers for the v6 and 4.7 were so minimal I couldn’t justify the extra expense of the 4.7.

I've pulled a small trailer with my V-6 moving stuff for a friend; I've had over a ton of Topsoil in the bed (2 yards) and it has performed well. The V6 of today has more guts than many of the V8s of yesterday, so the engine is adequate for me, and I love the stickshift.

I love my Ram, and couldn't be more happy with it. I hope all goes well for you as well.

I DYNODED @ A LOCAL SPEED SHOP THAT MY FRIEND WORKS AT THE TRUCK HAD 193HP TO THE REAR WHEELS BEFORE NOW IT HAS 213
