Default WANTED: Quiet Catback! Borla or Gibson

I'm trying to decide on the best Quiet Catback system. I'm hearing (no pun intended) that the Borla is the quietest and has NO DROWNING?? I have read that the Gibson Drowns a bit at certain RPM's. How true is this?? I think its between the Gibson and Borla Swept Side for me. One thing I don't like about the Borla is the Clamp-On 4" exhaust tip........ Kinda big and clamp-on seems cheap....?

Any input would be greatly appreciated since these things arn't real cheap!

Thanks

either exhaust will drown if you put them in too deep of water. I've never heard a gibson droning though, but most of my friends have borla's.

I'm guessing you mean "drone," meaning a continuous annoying noise, and not "drown."

If you don't like a particular exhaust tip, you can get others. As for how it's attached, Gibson's are clamp on, but with a welded on clamp mechanism far superior to any other rinky-dink ones I've see. But, there is no reason that any tip could not be welded on instead.

Osteodoc: A Q, please... why in the world would a manufacturer waste time and money aluminizing stainless systems (polish them, maybe)--unless of course, they use one of the low grades that's still magnetic and rusts just to say for marketing purposes it is "stainless." In the latter case, why bother? I suggest any one get a better grade (typically 304) and forget it, essentially forever. Can you tell us what brand sells aluminized stainless, please?

Sorry, I missed the word "or". It should have read aluminized or stainless steel. Last I knew of they offered the stainless steel and a cheaper aluminized steel. Sorry for the confusion.

Gibson claims to have the quietest cat back system available. I believe the noise level depends on how the exhaust exits the muffler (side, dual straight out, etc). I have the Gibson with the tail pipes on each side behind the tire, not straight out, and it does drone.

Why would you want a quiet cat back exhaust. No cat back will give you more power, the entire point of adding an exhaust is to make your truck loud.

Definitely no such thing as aluminized stainless.

As for the quality of Stainless, My Gibson in front of the rear tire stainless exhaust is amazing. My first '05 took a swim in the ocean, totalled. Switched the exhaust over to my replacement '05. It's in great shape. Was full of sea water for a couple of days until I was allowed to pull it off of the truck.

Hi,
I have a great solution for you. Use the Corsa RSC TOUR system. Delivers an aggressive, powerful sound at full throttle. Remains quiet at idle and cruise. The RSC technology eliminates low frequency interior resonance. I want to buy this sytem....but I am waiting on funds. My freind already has it in his truck and I was impressed with the sound ....and the low sound at idle!! Great system if you are not wanting to hear the exhaust LOUD all the time!!!! only when you punch it.
