2002 Dodge Ram 1500 I have just completed changing my heater core and evaporator and putting the dash back in came across the wire I circled in red. I have no idea where it goes and don't know what it is for. It is the only wire in the harness that has foam around it. Internet searches come up with nothing wire is on the driver side. Any help would be appreciated want to really get this finished up. Picture of harness is from internet.
Look though your factory service manual and see what colors match up. Then you have a list of possibilities. The other option, plug everything else in and see what doesn't function.
I checked the service manual but couln't come up with anything so I will have to finish up and find out whats not working like you said. I just don't remember disconnecting it.
No, It's just not something I remember disconnecting I was wonder if it's just a wire for a feature that I might not have because I really don't wanna take out the dashboard again if it's behind it.
True on the picture thing. Got the truck running and here is what I got. I have great heat but when temp is set to cold. Actuator is working opposite. That is with computer and will check with scanner because 5 other actuators did same thing. As far as wire goes I started truck and brake lights are on so it has something to do with that. Brake switch is not stuck and the plug to that is plugged in. When I turn key to accessory the tail lights come on with brake light switch unplugged. I'm going to have to pull dash again to see if there is a hidden plug anywhere.
Brake light switch, at least the 3rd brake light, literally is inline with the feed to the lamp. I know that circuit well, because I had an inoperable 3rd brake lamp. I'd say the switch is fouled up somehow. If you messed with the little flip switch on the rear of that switch, you'll likely need to buy a new one. They are a one time setup only, mess it up - buy a new switch. Aftermarket sells them, but I bought mine from the dealer for about $20 or so... Didn't need it, mine was fine.
I am going to pull back dashboard tomorrow and hopefully find something wrong.
Would anyone have answer to this one. In the steering column cut green wire and cut pink wire with no other end but complete same wires running right next to them. Had the truck since 04 and nobody else had touched it.
