Want a slightly bigger cam for my 04 Hemi Ram Do I need to tune?
Hi, since my previous post I'm thinking about changing my camshaft as a way to finally put an X through all of my potential physical problems of the not revving over 4,000rpm issue. Figured while I'm changing that, I might as well go to a bigger cam.
Now I don't want to go crazy with a huge cam that ruins driveability or braking vacuum, its still going to be a truck that gets used would like a healthy under the curve gain with decent peak power with a RPM range close to stock, something good from 2000-6000rpm, basically a cam that gets a person excited but still more than happy with driveability. Anyway in trying to find said cam, do I need to tune the pcm to take advantage of the new cam? if so what tuner and programming? I know I'll probably need new valve springs as well.
Sorry for a potential redundant question, surprisingly I couldn't find much on my exact needs.

Several manufactures make cams that are supposedly "computer friendly", and don't require custom tuning. Of course, you don't get as much of a power gain with them, as you would with a cam that required/recommended a tune..... It's pretty much up to you how much you really want to spend.
