lifetime means when the warranty expires to an engineer. All fluids wear out...it should be changed. the fluid and filter/pan are expensive. you need to have a scan tool that can read trans fluid temp
no bands on this trans.

The guy in the video did nothing to drain the fluid other than remove the pan, and it appeared that very little actually drained out. Is it possible that he ran the engine to pump more out, and forgot to include that on the video? What is the correct drain procedure?

the entire system capacity is 9.7 litres. A pan drop would probably change 4- 6 liters? I would be reluctant to do use an exchange machine on this transmission unless it was a dedicated for zf 8 speed fluid; the factory doesn't want you adding dye tracers in the fluid as they aren't compatible... and that's a small amount of fluid.

if you want more fluid removed...do the pan drop...fill it. drive it for a week...drop the drain plug and refill it. repeat. after that for future service...leave the filter and just change the fluid. 80% of the debris that circulates in a transmissions life is removed at the first fluid and filter change.
there is a severe service interval for trans fluid changes in the maintenance schedule...follow that.
