Default After Market Radio Install

I am installing a Pioneer MVH-210EX in a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie with the infinity sound system . The truck is equipped with the steering wheel controls. I would like to know if any of you have done a similar install and what is the wiring needed. I have purchased the PAC SWI-CAN Steering Wheel CAN Databus Interface for use with SWI-X, SWI-ALP, SWI-PS or SWI-ECL and the steering wheel control interface. Any suggestions appreciated.

Gary, I used the PAC RP4-CH11 wiring harness when upgrading the radio in my 2008. I retained the steering wheel controls. I do not know about the interfaces you list.
I used a dremel to modify the radio opening. It looks very good with the trim ring installed. I put a 45w per channel micro amp in the glove box.
I also installed a backup camera. That camera is really handy and I would highly recommend it.

More info on the Amp? Link?

The amp I used was the Clarion 2510 marine amp. It looks like it's discontinued, but the Alpine KTP-445U is the same size and power. The Alpine can be powered by the same source as your head unit.

Have you looked at this?

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541RP4...Interface.html

Under Details/Functionality it says:

Using this interface will retain factory features such as steering wheel controls (SWC), vehicle entertainment system (VES), and the factory audio amplifier whenever the original radio is removed. The RP4-CH11 also provides data bus driven outputs such as retained accessory power (RAP), vehicle speed sensor (VSS), illumination, reverse trigger, and parking brake.

I called the store that I purchased the head unit from (sound of Tristate) and I ordered a PAC interface that hooked up nicely. It has all the sound quality and more than enough volume. The steering wheel controls were seamless. I also could do additional programming (which I will not) if I want to add more options to the buttons. I have to turn the sound down when my wife rides with me, Thanks for the comment
