Default Accessory power staying on

So a couple weeks ago I noticed that my stereo doesn't always stay off. It is an aftermarket unit but I don't think that's the problem. It always turns off when I turn the ignition off, but it turns back on after a few seconds. I tried tying the switched power into to the top cigarette lighter outlet and it does the same thing. I don't think it's putting out a full 12v, but it's enough to signal the unit to turn back on and it can just take power from the memory from there if I'm not wrong. If I quickly turn the key back and forth a few more times, it will keep the stereo off, but that gets annoying. I'm wondering if they usually maintain a low voltage when off or if this problem is coming from an old ignition. Any ideas?

Thanks thats actually very helpful. I suspected that could be a cause but didn't want to dish out the money if it wasn't the case!

Default Update: ignition switch replaced, still have the same problem

Well I replaced the ignition switch which should have fixed the issue, but for some reason the problem hasn't gone away.
