TIPM Replacement.
After prolonged conflict with the IPM in my 05 2500 diesel, I gave up and ordered a replacement. I recently spotted a thread that speaks of having to take the replacement to the dealer to have it programmed to my truck? Is that accurate? If I install it prior to this, will the truck run, or do I have to take it in first, or worse still, have the truck towed into the dealer?
Appreciate the help on this . . .
Best regards,
JM.

I THINK it only needs programming if both tipm and pcm are replaced at the same time. I THINK the configuration is stored in these 2 modules so if you replace only the tipm...the pcm has the configuration in it so it can pass it to the tipm at key on.
someone correct me if i'm mistaken.
post a link to the post you refer to regarding programming

Thanks Primem: One last question - worst case scenario, if I install it and the PCM doesn't upload the info into the TIPM, is there potential for damage to the TIPM? I can't think of anything, it's a just a software handshake, but . . . ?
