Default HELP!! Stalling won't stay running

Hey Guys,

Of course when I am super busy already is when my truck decides to do this. I pulled out of the gas station and I was randomly surging for a minute then seemed fine until I got a mile or so down the road and it decided to stall at the stop sign. It kept firing back up but stalling right out. I had an EGR code (for 6+ years) so I finally replaced it in hopes it was the issue. It started up and stayed running, barely after several minutes of feathering throttle/revving with several stall outs in that time. But I was able to keep it running long enough to get it pulled into a near by parking lot out of the way. After that I got it to stay running wihout messing with the throttle...but was rough idle mostly...it's often smooth out and sound normal, and when I revved it hesitated then rough and spotty but settled holding at higher rpm. It flashed the CEL and came back with multiple cyl misfire. I have the Superchips flashpaq, I tried some data logging mode that shows TPS and other things that seemed to be reacting at least, thought I don't know exactly what a lot of it actually means....but showed fuel pressure is likely good. Another code that it set a couple times randomly is PO171 Fuel System Lean 1/1 and P0174 Fuel System Leam 2/1. But I clear them and they don't come back, at least for a while.

Back story...I had issues less thana year ago and changed the plugs, and it was all good...maybe 20K miles ago...previous ones had about 100K on them. Shortly after my fuel pump went out I got a code for it, and I changed it. Seems kind of since then, when engine was cold and it was cooler in the early mornings I had a little hesitation and surging until I neared normal operating temperature and then thigns were fine. didn't happen all the time, but got more and more frequent and then went away for a while.

Without it really setting codes and staying accurately with them, I don't know where else to look besides start pulling plugs and checking compression...Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You in Advance,

Eric

Thanks for the reply. So, update,,,I just got back home after a long day chasing the issue, then chasing parts and tools and such for a roadside repair...Turns out the gas station had a bad batch of gas so I had to drain my tank and put in different gas.

Out of curiosity, was it a big brand gas station like Shell or Sunoco, or was it like a privately owned place? Seems like people get bad batches of gas from private places...

Well I hope your truck keeps running great after that, I wouldn't think a tank of bad gas would do that much damage, if any.

Yeah, shouldn't have caused any damage...to the truck anyway, it damaged my day of work pretty good though

Thanks for the update cuz I learned something. Amazing how fast bad gas will work its way thru the fuel system and start to cause problems.

Had a similar issue with my 06 1500. Mine didn't stall out but ran rough with cel flashing. Spent 2 weeks down and changed a ton of parts just to find out it was the gas I got the morning of the issue starting.
