Default Misfire codes, rough running. Resolved

Posting this to hopefully help someone with similar problems. I will detail my journey to the solution to my problems so may be a long post.

To begin I drive a 2006 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a 4.7L V8. 158,000 miles

Started running rough and backfire on me after work one afternoon, then the CEL came on and flashed every time I would accelerate. I checked the codes and got p0300, p1128, and a few others that pointed out the 02 sensor (bank1)and crankshaft position sensor.

I obviously changed out the bank 1 o2 sensor and crankshaft position sensor (both from big chain store) still had the issue. I then changed the other o2 sensor (from box store) and crankshaft position sensor (from dealer). This again didn't fix my problem. I changed all the spark plugs and the egr valve, checked multiple times looking for vacuum leaks or shorts in the wires. This still did not remedy the issue of misfire. I watched a few videos on YouTube showing common rocker/lifter problems under the valve cover. So I removed mine to see nothing out of place. I then changed the coil packs and hit a dead end. None of these fixed the codes.

After looking through my bank records I seen I get gas the day the misfire issues happened.(I purchased gas at the same station for the last 13 years, up to 3+ times a week and never had issues with the quality of the gas) I drained the gas tank the best I could and filled back up with the highest octane I could with fuel injector cleaner and booster then drove the truck for 2 hours. After an hour and a half of driving the CEL stopped flashing and went steadily on. The next day I cleared the codes and have been driving close to 2 weeks with no issue or codes.

I now do not use low octane gas. I go mid grade or better. I would only assume the gas I got the day of my issues had too much alcohol or water in the mix.

I hope this can help someone fix a similar issue with their truck without spend $500+ like I did. I'm not upset because I purchased this truck used and definitely needed the tune up. If you think you need to purchase a few of these items I would reccomend getting the crankshaft sensor at a dealer. It will cost you double but I have had a lot of people tell me aftermarket ones are no good on Chrysler vehicles. I would not get coils off Amazon. All the reviews show poor results on dodge trucks. The plugs I have heard that work the best are copper. You may have to change them sooner but give less issues. And all ways unhook the battery when working on anything that requires you to unplug a wire harness.

😁😁😁✌✌😁😁😁

The delivery truck may have dropped the wrong fuel into the gas station tanks, or, if you showed up while the truck was delivering, or shortly after, all the crap in the bottom of the tank gets stirred up, and goes into YOUR tank. Your truck was designed to run on 87 octane E10 gas, more alcohol than E10, and you start running into troubles, water in the gas will also give you fits. Did you look at the gas you drained out of the tank after it sat for a bit? Any water settle out?

I don't know if they delivered gas to the station that morning or not. I would assume so. It was about a week after I started trying to fix the issue before I looked into it being the gas. When I emptied the tank I didn't put any into a jar to see if it was separation or not. I just put it all into 5gal gas cans and kept it moving. I am 99% sure it was the gas by the way it corrected it self after a while of driving it. Was a bit of a gamble but luckily worked out for me. Been about 2k miles put on the truck since I erased the codes and filled up about 7 times with no further problems. But I do now ask the clerk before I pump gas if they just got a delivery.
