How Can I Install A Winch

RE: How Can I Install A Winch
They are a good idea if you feel like running all the connections back to the front. Remember that you need to use a huge wire so that it has enough juice to run the winch (assuming you are going with electric).
You can also cheap out and get a come a long with some good strong recovery straps.

Receiver mounted winches work just fine. A friend of mine had one set up for the front and back of his Jeep. Kind of sucks carrying the thing to the front or back of your truck when you are already stuck in mud. It is probably the smarter way to go, no need to be constantly carrying it around.

This is the setup i'm going with after the first of the year. Front /back mount with a relay/toggle switch set up to kill everything from the cab. The mounting options are a great thing as when your stuck you don't always want to go forward. Sometimes backward is a much better option. This particular winch is well sealed and good for dusty/wet use.

The price adds up fairly quick but it's all stuff that a guy can install in the garage and save some cash. Not to mention if your going to be offroad you shouldn't skimp on recovery gear.
