Stays in 4WD even after putting back in 2WD
So I figured since we are getting into the snow season that I would make sure teh 4WD still works. I am at a stop in a parking lot, and switch it to 4HI (electronic transfer case). Drive around a little to get the juices flowing, and come to a stop and put it back in 2WD. Go to drive again, and it's stuck in 4WD. After about 2-3 minutes of slow driving it went back to 2WD. Is this normal? I am going to have my truck serviced after Christmas, but would just see if this is a normal thing. Thanks a lot,
Chris

this has happened to me a few times, but never longer than about 30 seconds, and not very frequently........just figured it was all part of the 4wd, tho i never had that problem with my jeep cherokee.....
Same deal here. It does appear that there's a small lag in switching back from 4wd to 2wd. Not sure if it's normal, but I've experienced the same thing. It's always switched back but after a little wait.
First of all todays 4x4's are all shift on the fly, which means putting your truck into or out of 4x4 while you are moving.Don't exceed 45 miles per hour when doing it and when disengaging let off the gas for about 2 seconds while shifting or turning your dial. It will help disengage it much quicker. Good Day
yea i have the same scenario with my electronic t-case...only mine is AWD and 4HI/LO....i was testing out the options the other day and i noticed that even though i switched from 4HI to AWD on the fly...i was going slow up my driveway...it stayed in 4HI for about 30 seconds worth of driving slowly down my street at like 5-10mph, then i noticed during a turn that it fully engaged AWD again.

I would say something has to be adjusted. I have owned a lot of different 4x4's, they all went right into gear. Including shift on the fly systems.
I definitely prefer a lever.
