Default 2005 Ram 1500 4.7L Flex Fuel to Non Flex Fuel Possible?

Hello all,

I have a 2005 1500 that currently has a Flex Fuel motor in it. The engine in it just had major mechanical failure happen, and now I'm looking at a few used motors to drop in to get her back up and running. I've found some good pricing on some lower mile engines, however they are all non flex fuel. I was wondering if I get a non flex fuel engine, is there anything different for bolt ups, sensors, fuel line, etc? I never run E85 in the truck anyways, so I'm not worried about retaining that feature, but I was not sure if there are different sensors or anything of that nature.

I did find this thread: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...pass-help.html where the guy said he bolted right in, however he didn't have an EGR valve anymore causing a check engine. Are all non flex fuel engines without EGR or just in this guys case?

Thanks for the help!

I assume the differences are in the fuel pump, metal fuel lines if any, fuel rail and injectors (stuff e85 would corrode), pcm programming and some sensors. I would think the engine mechanically is unchanged. no reason why you couldn't change over the manifolds to keep the egr.

Same engine, however; different fuel system materials and one extra sensor in the fuel line for alcohol content. Different PCM.
Imho - you would be better off to replace that 4.7 with the 5.7 Hemi.
