Default problem w/ 4 wd? maybe.....

I never had a 4wd truck before, so this might no be aproblem w/ my truck, but just something that happens w/ 4 wd trucks. When I put on 4 wd drive (i don't have push butom one, I have to manualy change it) the truck feels normal when driving straight or on regular turns. But if I turn my steering wheel all the way to either direction (from a complete stop) and stra pushing the gas, the truck feels realy weird, like the e-brake is on, and the rear wheels start to slip, because it looks like it's not going on the same pace as the front wheels. I just thought that was really weird, but maybe is something that 4 wc trucks do, I just don't know because as I said before, this is my first 4wd truck. I have 2005 Ram 1500 daytona.

Thanks for your help

Gui

Does it feel like it is "crawling?" This is because your front axle is actually wanting to turn at a different speed than your rear axle. A huge amount of pressure is building up in your drive line and the only way to get rid of it is with tire slippage or something breaks. That is why you never use four wheel drive on drive pavement, only use it on surfaces that allows for wheel slippage. Hope this helps explain it and I hope you aren't in a parking lot taking sharp turns.

good luck

That's what it feels like. I know it should be something normal. I notice this during the snow here, when Parking my car, and the parking lot was already clean.

thanks

It will be really bad when you are turning on a solid surface....not good for your truck. Unless there is wheel slippage, don't use 4x4. I know it is a PITA to go back and forth, but next time you go to park and the street/lot has been cleared, just slip it into 2wd. You'll save a lot of head aches and wear and tear on your truck.
