Default Bad rattle/ clunking in 2 wheel drive same in 4 hi, 4 lo when having to give gas

Ok so I ran my truck in 4 low the other morning due to icy roads and everything worked fine. The following morning i was called in for snow removal and they was about 6 inches on the ground. I shifted into 4 low and had an awful grinding and clatering for somewhere in the front end. I tried again to shift from 4 hi to 2 to neutral and back down to 4 hi and the samething. I drove to work in 2 wheel drive and it sucked. Now when i have the truck in 2 wheel I get that nasty noise. I put the truck in 4 hi or low and it goes away when driving but if i have to get on the gas I get the same noise. Anyone have any input on this. Its a 2004 1500 5.7 automatic transmission manual shift transfer case

Its a new process gear, I can not make out much of the serial number or assey number. I believe it says model 241 D and ratio 272. There is just under 230K miles.

Ah. Ok, Drop the rear driveshaft, and the tail housing on the t-case. Check and see if the snap ring that holds the shaft in place against the rear bearing is there. My guess is, it's not...... Do a google search on transfer case saver, have a look at the various pics, and they will show you what you are looking for.
