Default Having the hardest time.

I have a 2008 ram 1500 megacab. I am having the hardest time finding a replacement engine. For one thing I can anyone to agree which engines will interchange. I have several people telling me only one engine can go in it. And thats another 2008 mega cab 5.7 vin D. I find it hard to believe they mad a truck that could only take one engine. Would love any info I could get on finding a decent used or even rebuilt 2008 5.7 vin D or anything interchange able. I don't want to spend 3500 to find out I got stuck with the wrong engine. Thanks again!

Call a couple of salvage yards and ask them what will fit. What you're fining is "direct" interchange. That means you don't have to do ANYTHING to drop it in. Other engines may fit but you might need to swap the oil pan or intake.

Interchange today isn't like it used to be.The old interchange manuals would say this fits but that part will fit if you file a tab off the housing or flip the part over. As for what will fit your truck, I've been out of the salvage business since 1984. Sorry.
