Start by pressurizing the coolant system. You can rent the tool at autozone, o Reilly’s etc. I just replaced my water pump and now have to tear everything down again because timing cover is leaking now. (Which is why I bought a double roller timing chain and gasket set)

You could have a bad water pump, radiator, coolant hose, timing cover, head gasket( which could cause the sluggishness)...could be numerous things so start by pressurizing system and find leak before you drive it much further
