Default Towing a 04 4x4 Dodge Ram 1500

Hello guys, had a question about towing the 2004 automatic trans 4x4 1500. Just yesterday I needed a tow and requested a rollback for my truck. To make a long story short, I had the truck picked up and dropped off at my house. Was not there for the pickup, but was there for the drop off. When the tow truck showed up, front wheels were on a wheel lift with no tow dollys on the rear. I just about **** myself. I was thinking this guy destroyed my transmission. He stated that the tranny and transfer case were in neutral when he towed it. Usually I make sure they disconnect the rear drive shaft if they are going to tow it like that. Do you guys think there was any damage done to the transfer case or transmission? And should I have it checked out by the dealership? Not able to test drive it at the moment. I currently have ecu out for a flash. Tuner crashed in the middle of a tune. So it's down until I get that fixed. By the way Superchips is awesome with their customer service.

I believe the transfer case has an oil pump driven off the rear output shaft, so, you should be fine.

If the transfer case was in f act in neutral you'll be ok....that's why it has a neutral function, for flat towing

Alright thank you guys for the reply. This truck is my baby. Have a crap ton of money and time invested in this thing. Spend every weekend doing maintenance and detailing it. For 16 year old truck this thing is in immaculate condition. Not one spot of rust or scratch on this truck. No it's not a pavement princess. I just take real good care of it. Would love to see how much life I can get out of this thing before a major power train overhaul.
