Question Cold air induction

Looking for recommendations for a cold air induction system for a 2005 Dodge Ram Quad Cab with a 4.7 liter engine. Thanks.

K&N seems to be what most people go with. They have a few different types of Cold Air Intakes for your truck.

Plethora of options, even cheaper if you're willing to get one used.

Isn't the stock system already a cold air intake?

That's what it's designed to be. I usually keep the stock system on my vehicles and throw in a K&N Air Filter inside. It tends to help a bit.

So you only replaced the air filter with a K & N? Was there any difference?

It's louder. The K&N filters can flow more air, but, it isn't going to be a 'seat of the pants' noticeable performance difference. But, add other things, tune, headers, free flowing exhaust, and the CUMULATIVE affect WILL be noticeable.

I noticed that you could hear the engine a bit more from inside the cabin when giving it gas, and it did sound a bit nicer. I also threw a K&N Air Filter in my 2013 Subaru Legacy with a CVT and the filter really helps with the low end, and it prevents the engine from chugging along at the beginning of accelerating. I'm gonna be selling the car soon though, I want something more powerful.

Lmao it 'might' add a couple horsepower and a couple Ib-Ft of torque... I obviously can't say for sure. The filter is worth the money, I highly recommend it. I put it on all my vehicles.

Saw a diy for a 4.7L "CAI Jr" setup using 3" tubing, 3" rubber coupler, and a 3" 90 degree rubber elbow coupler to replace the big airbox in front of the throttle body on the top of the engine (which is basically a big silencer).
Result should be better throttle response, exhaust tone, and a wee bit of power, I usually remove the air intake silencers on all my vehicles and gives a bit of improvement each time. I will be doing this mod to my Ram when I get time.
