The orange can has a bad rep. They make an excellent filter in the Fram Ultra. Wire backed synthetic media, silicone anti-drainback valve, etc. Been using it for many years.

My truck likes Mobil 1, Valvoline, and SuperTech (all 5w20 full syn). Ive tried pennzoil and seemed a bit noisier than the others, so yes most oils will protect roughly the same but I choose to go with the quieter running oil. Listen to your vehicles they'll tell you what they like!!

Changing mine this weekend with SuperTech high mileage full syn 5w20 and mopar 090 filter (170,000 miles+)

Personally i like using Valvoline, As for oil filters, i always use mopar brand. Honestly any oil will be fine, Just make sure to change the oil and filter on time.

Using a quality oil and changing it is important but I believe the most important thing is using a good quality filter. A lot of filters are just crap and are literally cardboard and glue inside and a cheap filtering substance. (low end FRAM) . There is only like 3-4 companies that make filters if I remember correctly. I know WIX makes its own and they make NAPA filters are good filters. There are several good ones out there but do your research. A few dollars to get a good product is much cheaper than a new engine.

The most important thing is keeping your engine full of oil. That means checking the level and topping off when necessary.

Even unfiltered, dirty oil, is better than low oil, or no oil at all. A blocked oil filter will go into bypass mode and keep circulating the oil. Your engine will run for years with the oil unfiltered and with no oil change. Simply put... the worst oil is NO oil.

I figured proper oil level was a given. I guess what I should have said was " Providing you keep the proper amount of oil in your vehicle using a quality filter is very important, as most oils today meet standards but oil filters come in different levels of quality. LOL

LOL... sorry if I came across as Captain Obvious. It was more of a reminder to folks to check their oil. Been seeing a lot of ruined engines lately.
