Feels sluggish bc you have 3.55 gears....need to get rid of those and get 3.92's at the least.
Ross, Do you have the 3.92's in your 4.7L 5speed manual? Also, are you getting a noticable upgrade in performance with the Air Ram induction?

Yes, 3.92's with my manual. I can leave 15ft of rubber trails when I drop the clutch.[sm=badbadbad.gif] Air ram and exhaust are for sound more than anything. Cold air induction doesnt make any noticeable difference until you get really movin. I have gone up 1mpg though since putting it on.

Yep! There sure is a tag in the glove box. Finally got around to looking in there, and sure enough I've got 3.92s . But I'm at 2000 rpm at 70mph. I've got the factory 20s, would that explain the difference? I'm assuming your truck has 17s?
Yes 20's will make a difference on the RPMs. I had 20's but sold them for these 17's, nothin pretty but now I dont have to be scared of curbs and I can take it off the pavement.

My 02- 4.7- 5speed manual has the 3.5 ratio and runs 2000 rpm's at 70mph. I'm willing to give up a few hundred rpm's for more power anyday!

Hope nobody minds if I pipe in on this one...

I have the '03 4.7 reg cab SB... really loses a lot going uphill. What can I do to improve this?
I use it as a daily driver, and 98% of my miles are long distance on the highway.
I don't want to lose any tow power though, as I pull a camper in the summer.
Any ideas?

id go with some new gears, but only if you plan on keeping it at least a few more years to let them pay for themselves. for all the highway driving youll be doing, id go with 4.10s instead of 4.56s. most people will recommend the 4.56s and they are better for performance (faster take offs, more towing power) but for the amount of highway you do id go with 4.10s.
