__Brand new 2005, stick shift. Old keys come out in RUN or ON position, won't turn back to LOCK or ACC. New ignition switch (other problems), cheap & easy to put in a new lock at the same time. Is this for real, that (per the owner's manual - which was still with the truck ! ), you have to press a button to remove the key? New keys worked fine until I installed the cylinder, now everything works as it should except the key won't come out.
__So is it the release button, which won't move (even with pliers) in any position? Again, this is a stick shift so the problem isn't PARK detent, dumb key so no electronics involved, steering wheel is free. And that's the extent of 1000 suggestions online. Old keys are in good shape so the lock was obviously worn out, but for now this super clean truck is sitting there ready to start & drive away, and I'm depending on the door locks & old key, plus the 6-speed antitheft system.

Yes, there's a spot for a button on the stick shifts. What it sounds like is you didn't install the cylinder quite right (or there's a different one for manuals, but not likely) so that interacts with the button properly. Button is as shown below:
