Default 4.7 4x4 rear end knock

As the title states I am getting a rear end knock from I believe the differential. I only get the knocking when I turn then when I straighten out it goes away. I was quoted 700-1400 for repairs lol. Is this something I could do? I replaced 3 differentials on my Bmw but that was pretty much bolt on, I’m completely ignorant to this vehicle if someone could point me in the right direction maybe for used parts?

Could you tell us exactly the work that was quoted for 700-1400? Ring and pinion gearing?
Do you have the anti-spin or open diff rear end?

I couldn’t tell you exactly since the mechanic who was working on it doesn’t work on rear ends so I called the shop he told me about (my mechanic is pretty straight forward and honest) they said anywhere from 700-1400. I’m assuming it’s a ring and pinion issue since it’s almost as if the differential locks or catches something and knocks hard. I believe I have the 3.55 LSD

You can find a Chrysler corporate 9.25 rear end 3.55 ring and pinion in a junkyard, ebay, or craigslist.
You will need to know for sure what work needs to be done. If you need to replace the ring and pinion then you need to know the gear ratio and if LSD or not. I didn't think they put LSD on the 3.55, but others may chime in and tell me I'm wrong.
