2006 ram 5.7l hemi random misfire code dont know what else to do
I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 5.7 L Hemi V8 engine it overheated on me and blew the head gaskets I replaced the head gaskets and put a full silk it in the truck including fuel injector seals valve seals head gaskets manifold gaskets intake gaskets I replace the water pump and thermostat do to the overheating issue when I blew my head gaskets it also caused a number 5 misfire so I replaced the spark plugs all 16 of them and the number 5 coil pack now I am getting a random misfire code I have been trying to fix it I have put part after part in trying to find the issue I have a list of parts thus far including O2 sensors IAT sensors crank position sensors cam position sensor cleaned the map sensor replaced the EGR valve and still have a bad random misfire in the truck will not run at all or even start without giving it fuel once you let off the fuel and sputters out please help
I recommend you start by checking the head gasket. With the engine cool, remove the radiator cap then start the engine. Check if the coolant is bubbling.
If no bubbling, then do a compression check on your cylinders. I recommend removing one plug per cylinder prior to starting this check to reduce load on your starter. Also check plugs for anything unusual, like coolant, gas, or oil.
These checks will help determine if your engine is healthy (compression) and if the headgasket work was done correctly. You can move to fuel and spark after.
Since the problem started after your overheat and head removal, you should check there first in my opinion.
