Default Infiniti system issue

My brother had to replace the steering column recently in his 2004 1500. The guy he bought it from said it was a 2003, we found out after he installed it that it was a 2002. The alarm has disabled the truck from even trying to crank. Anyone know how to fix this issue?
Also, my brother is a mechanic but this has him stumped.
Thanks in advance.

Did the 2002 use the grey key? If its black, then, it has no chip in it for the security system.

If that column had SKIM (Sentry Key Immobilizer module with gray key) and his truck didn't, the SECOND you turned the key on and powered up the bus that module sent a signal to the PCM and not only locked it because they aren't initialized, but now that PCM will require SKIM forever.
I'm guessing the more likely scenario is that his 2004 had a gray key and you guys put a black key column in (without SKIM) so now the PCM isn't getting the required signal from the SKIM and it has locked the PCM.
