Default Needed advice!!! New engine?

I have a 02 Dodge Ram 1500, with a 4.7 V8. It has around 250,000 miles on it. Is it better to get another engine or just rebuild?

Some more info would be helpful.
How long have you owned the truck?
why are you thinking about rebuilding or replacing, are you having a problem with the engine?
Has the engine been rebuilt before?
When you say "get another engine", are you going to replace it yourself or send it to a shop?

Default Needed help

Well over the summer it's started to stall on me whenever I would stop at a light. Plus it had a leak in the head gasket. I've owned my truck 5 years.

It doesn't sound to me like you need a replacement engine. The stalling could be result of vacuum leak, bad crank sensor, fuel injectors clogged/malfunctioning, or bad coil. There are good videos online for checking each of these, the 4.7 is a popular engine.

I've had both issues happen to my 4.7L. Replaced IAC and TPS which solved the stalling issue (you can try cleaning the IAC with carb spray first). The head gasket, I fixed *chemically* over 5 years ago. Cost me about 20 bucks, well $40 once I overcame the learning curve. Truck is my only vehicle and driven daily.
