Personally, if you're in there anyways, put in a TrueTrac and be done with it.

I had the C-Clip failure on my differential and almost machined the carrier bolts free. Gear shop said go to a junkyard, find a same model year open diff and we'll build it up. That dude saved me hundreds of dollars doing that.
