Default 2003 Ram 1500 Remote Keyless Entry Module

Hey all,

My remote keyless quit working and the dealership tells me I need a new RKE Module. Of course, the part is discontinued by Ram, so I am in the wilderness trying to find one. The part number is 56045755AC. This module bolts on to the back of the gauge cluster. Searching for used clusters, I am finding some that have a module with the number 56045755AB rather than AC. Also in various parts listings I see both under the same part in various Mopar parts sites. Do any of you know if these are interchangeable? I don't want to buy a whole cluster with an AB module to learn if they are compatible or not. Thanks guys!

They *should* be the same module, the last two letters representing what revision the part is. The AC flavor, is an 'updated' version of the AB flavor. Exactly WHAT changes were made though, are unknowable. I don't think that information is available to the general public. (and maybe not even dealer parts departments.....)

Yeah, looking a little further into it, it looks like all the gauge clusters have AB modules in the back of them, and the AC replacement part either was a minor upgrade to address newer model applications or maybe an upgrade to reduce failure rates. I imagine when mine comes apart it will have the AB version in there, so I can probably feel comfortable finding a used AB for it.

The planned obsolescence stuff kills me. Good thing this module doesn't determine whether the truck runs or not. Thanks for the reply.

Good luck, I ended finding one half the country away after a dealer checked the network for me.

Default What remote ?!

Remote? So I just bought 05 1500 5.7 4x4 and got one stinkin key ! No fob. Many already know if your passenger side door handle has no key cylinder, you have a remote truck. I call my local mobile locksmith and he confirms what key blank/remote model number I need. I get three remotes, two more keys. $60 to recode the three fobs and $5 each to cut two more keys. I did confirm with owner what happened to fob. He said it worked but fob broke and never replaced it. Yes, I am turning a Flame Red turd into a nice driver.
