2004 dodge ram 1500 4.7 2wd quad cab 180k linkage broke installed new one everything went fine until i got up around steering area the metal piece where its supposed to sit in and not move keeps breaking free everytime i shift i am going crazy as to what i am not doing right i tried to even take meta bracket off and it sits in there for a second the right way until i put it in gearf then it pops right back out can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong

 

Can you post a picture on what you are working on? Because I don't if you are working on the steering box or transmission.
