Electronic throttle control light
Hello everyone,
My name is Charles Kilventon and I purchased a 2003 dodge 2500 with the 5.7 hemi in it from my co-worker. The truck has about 118k miles on it and runs well. Every once in a while I start the truck and the electronic throttle control light comes on, but then if I turn it off and start it back up it goes away and I can go on about what I was doing. I brought it to dodge originally because when the light came on it would idle up and down repetitively so they replaced the throttle body and now when the light comes on it just goes up to 1192 rpm and stays there. My local dodge dealer said there next step would be to remove the valve covers and make sure everything looks okay. I personally do not believe that it is a mechanical problem within the engine though, however I have seen some people say there dealers have charged them to put new heads on the engine and that fixed there problem. Not sure if its the same problem or not and was just looking to see if anyone has any advice.
Thank you
Charles Kilventon

I fail to understand how replacing heads would affect the throttle by wire system........ I don't see the connection there.
No, that's gotta be an electronics problem. Since the throttle body is new, maybe the pedal position sensor?

There isn’t a pedal position sensor, theres just a cable that goes to the throttle body.
i have a cylinder #3 misfire, but I did a cylinder cut out test, compression test, and a cylinder leakage test. As well as changing spark plugs around and seeing if the misfire moves but it didnt, the misfire is not consistent though. Its like the computer is almsot causing the misfire.
