I am getting a giant headache trying to find out what other years have the same transmission has the 46re that is in my 02 dodge ram 1500 SLT 4x4 with the 5.9magnum and that i can swap right in with no huge hassle. Thanks for your wise intervention :P

 

I *think* anything 2000 and up, that came behind the 5.2, or 5.9 should bolt right in, hook right up, and work properly. There were a buncha minor changes of the years, that make them incompatible though. I think the only thing on yours you need to worry about is the size of the hole for the transmission range sensor. (for that lovely digital PRNDL in the dash. also deal with starting in park, or neutral, I think.)

Trans should come from a 4x4 as well, for the last amount of hassle. You can make the 2wd version work, by swapping over your O/D unit, but, then it starts becoming a hassle.

 

Thank you because i have found an 04 ram 4x4 but it has a smaller magnum engine and am hoping that it is just what i need to get my truck moving in directions other than reverse :P Thx

 

If it's the 4.7, the trans won't work. I didn't think the 5.2 was put in anything after 02.....
