Default 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

03 Dodge Ram 1500 heat & air not working
I have an 03 Dodge Ram 1500. The heat & air stopped working right at the same time 2 years ago. I can no longer tolerate freezing to death. Have had some people look at it with no idea of what's wrong with it. I cannot afford a dealer as to why it's still not working. Ok so, the blower motor works. The air flow changes from face, defrost, & feet when I change it. In the summer the ac blows hot. In the winter the heat blows ice cold. They both worked great before they stopped working. Please help

Research blend door problems and see if that's what you are experiencing.

I have & watched tons of videos along with reading everything. I'm not a mechanic so it's not making sense to me.

Blend door controls the temp of the air, by directing which 'core' it flows thru. (either the evaporator core for a/c, or heater core for heat.) Some systems run ALL the air thru the evaporator core, regardless of what temp you want, as colder air carries less moisture. (good for the defog function when it isn't already freezing cold out. ) These trucks are known for the blend doors breaking......

So just to help someone else.... The problem has been solved!!!
All of my controls were working (foot, face, defrost), blower is fine, heater core is fine, thermostat is fine. Me & my boyfriend pulled the front of the dash off & started investigating. It was one of the actuators I'm guessing? It has an arm it moves. As soon as the arm was moved by my boyfriend, good warm heat started blowing out of the vents. We don't know if it was bad or just in a bind but were leaving it uncovered to see. Hope this helps someone else.
It is located on the front of the huge black box under dash. Just left of blower motor area.
