Default 2002 Dodge oil pan

2002 1500 4X4 5.9 oil pan is rusted out. Any hints for removal other than what is in the manual? It doesn't say how to "raise the engine slightly"

Loosen the bolts for the engine mounts, and you should be able to lift it up enough to pull the pan. Assuming, of course, you have something to lift it with.... Might be able to rent a cherry picker from your local auto parts store.

I just did oil pan gasket and rear main seal on mine last year…..I DID NOT touch the engine, instead I dropped down the front diff, didn’t take it out just unbolted and let it drop down, still had my cv in on drivers side.

I had just enough room to do job.

check out 2nd gen forums I made a write up on rear main seal last year

hardest part was getting pickup tube back in the slot when re installing, other than that it was pretty simple

edit here’s my post, did a lot more than oil pan though
