Yep, need to drop the crank, and change the tone ring. I *think* it really is that easy. I don't know if anything change for the cam sensor... but, that would be something to take a close look at as well.

Pulled the motor, swapped the crank tone gear, new timing chain kit which changed the tone wheel for the cam sensor. All back together and in the truck and started right up.

Great news. I guess someone installed the wrong tone ring then ultimately junked the engine.
