Bought a Used transmission, did I get a 45ref or a 545rfe
Hi,
I just bought a used 5.7L Hemi and what I thought was a 545rfe from a 2008 Ram 1500 4x4. Both are going into a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
When I took the converter off the plate behind it says 45rfe. I have no proof that the trany and engine are from the same vehicle. The seller has already lied to me about the millage and I'm going through my credit card company to deal with that.
The info tag on the side of the trany is worn off. Casting number is 479960. And a 660 N.
My understanding is that the 45rfe was no longer made after early 2000's. I know both are identical, but I figure by 2008 they would not still be using the 45rfe cover.
Thanks.

I just took a closer look at the tag provided by the salvage yard. It's mostly rubbed off but you can just make out the 2007 and the partial VIN does not match the engine VIN.
So at least it could be a 545rfe, with a 45rfe cover?
Thanks.
