How to center a clockspring with wheel attached?
So my steering column steering wheel hole came crossthreaded from the factory and simply unbolting it tore threads so I tried retapping it, only to break the tap inside so i had to buy a steering column off ebay. This new column is likely not centered from handling, how can i center it myself without removing the wheel as im not going through that hell again.
From what i've seen the best way is to get your fingers as close as possible to the center to reduce the torque you have and then very lightly spin it till you feel resistance of the end. After that you spin it a certain amount of turns back to center but i'm not sure what that is. Is there a better method and how many turns?
I know my wheels arent centered but i know they're half a turn right from center or i can center them with the old column i just need the clockspring centered so i can go form there.

Edit to all this: I found the service manual.
For anyone wondering its page 8O-255 at-least in the 2006 manual as i couldn't find the 2007. You want to rotate it with your hand till you feel resistance, it's noticeable with it off after hammering on it like a golf swing to get the wheel removed but with it on you could miss it, go slow to avoid momentum tearing the cable.
Now by this point you should have your blue/yellow nib facing up on the clockspring and your wheel+airbag connectors being pointed to by a sunken black arrow. Rotate your wheel 2.5 turns the opposite direction you were facing. By doing this your connectors should be facing up and the arrow is pointing to the nib that the wheel engages on.
If it was off remove it at this point, if it isn't off you can still use this to center it but be warned of the increased torque, use a single or two fingers as close to the center as possible to get as little torque as possible.
