Is there a way to add a light by my cup holder on my 02 ram. I have almost missed the cup holder a couple times at night trying to watch the road and set my drink down

 

What you could try is to plug in something near the cigarette lighter by the cupholder that has USB ports (like a phone charger), and put a usb LED light near it. It would be really cheap all together.

 

Yes, lots of ways. Here’s just one. Get something like this.

 

I use the blue LED on my phone charger that's plugged into the lighter port. I have it angled down at about the 5 o'clock position. Its not super bright, but bright enough to see the cup holders.

 

Could add a cheap led strip like I did to my old 3rd gen.

 

Lights

 

I vote for these USB lights. The light is directional and dimmable, so you can plug them in facing down towards the cupholder, vs filling the cabin with light. You can change the color and they remember the setting when you shut down. Couldn't be easier.


If you've only got one USB port on your phone charger, switch to one that has two, so you plug in your charging cable and the light at the same time.

 

Pull your center bezel, you MIGHT find the harness for the factory option courtesy light there. Came with the light group in 3rd gens. I have a link to an install thread but it's on another forum and I don't think they like links to other forums here. Here are the pics, p/n is 55361226AA.
