Generally, that particular problem is caused by a bad sending unit. And, just because its "new", does NOT necessarily imply it actually works properly...... Part quality has degraded dramatically the last decade or so....
yes, new rod bearings. No, i have not connected a external oil gauge up, but when it drops to zero at idle, I let it run for 2min or more and no ticking or knocking. Im almost sure that if I let an engine run for 2 mins. with no oil pressure it would at least tick. I still leaning towards a ground wire or corrosion at the body connector. I did replace the sending unit. thx
You would probably hear rod noise….but were the original rod bearings standard or had the crank possibly been ground when the oversized piston was installed?? Just ideas..
I was thinking about this and maybe I didn't explain it right. The truck runs GREAT,!! Then all at once the oil gauge drops to zero. If i dont do anything, it pops back up to norm or if I (touch) the gas pedal, it pops back to norm.
Yes, someone before me had everything oversized. Rod, mains AND PISTONS (oversized)........If you look at my first posts, It was a problem. LOL. Trust me after making the first mistake, I double checked everything. . thx
