Curious if anyone knows if the 2007 (12/06 build date) 2500 HD Hemi didn't come with an EGR? Just bought one and had to have it smog tested, (California). It passed the computer scan but the technician failed the truck because the EGR and tube was missing. There's clearly a blank-off plate on the head and plug in the intake but I can't find any trace of the wires/plug harness. What proof could I show the smog shop that the truck came stock without the EGR? Or, if it did, where in the engine bay can I look for the original wiring harness so I can reinstall the missing parts. Other forums have suggested that the 3rd gen 2500-3500 Hemi did not come with EGR's.

I don't see an EGR valve listed for your vehicle.
Now how do you get the inspector to understand you don't have one? Ideally the inspector would have a reference that provides info on each vehicle's emissions system.
Since that isn't the case for you, consider asking this same garage for an estimate to install a new EGR valve on your truck. They'll look it up and see you don't have one.

I had a similar approach, called two separate dealerships and asked for a part lookup, both said the EGR parts only included the blank off plate and intake cap. They seemed just as surprised.
