Default 06 5.9 won’t start

2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9, Truck worked fine yesterday. Today I went to start it, but all I got was a “click” sound. Pulled the key out and the dash and interior lights stayed on. I read about this and some people said bad wcm or that it needed to be reset. So I unplugged the negative end on each battery terminal. Tried it again after roughly 30min and same problem, but now the CEL is flashing with What I think is the fuel pump clicking.

I’m thinking TIPM, WCM, or ECM but I’m not sure any help is appreciated.

You need to put a voltmeter on your battery. It sounds dead.

Anything less than 12v will give all kinds of electrical symptoms. Measure voltage static, then measure voltage when trying to start.

Static was 12.12V driver side and 12.31V passenger side, dropped to 11.90V when the key was turned. I would expect that to be high enough to at least try to crank, but nothing. It is cold here 13F, maybe that has something to do with it?

I'd check 12v at the starter. Then jump the starter to see if it turns over.

I got it to turn over, by wiggling the gear selector but it still would not start. After that I noticed that on the dash there was no indication of gear chosen. I think I'm going to get some new batteries and hope that fixes everything. Otherwise I'm at a little bit of a loss.

Try to start it in neutral. You might have a neutral safety switch issue.

Put new batteries in and tried starting it in neutral, but still nothing. Dash doesn't show a gear selected either. Also still have a flashing CEL with what I think is the lift pump ticking. I'm not sure where to go from here...

Also read about fuse 42 to the PCM and to the ECM, would that cause some of my issues if that were blown? What if the ECM was bad?
