Oil pan replacement
where is the oil pan replacemement forum?
anyways 2002 ram 1500 has rusty *** oil pan.
i saw a youtube seems to make me think engine does not need to be jacked up. ? no?
anyways first question is what goop to seal the gasket with?
i keep hearing silicone this and silicone that but my impression of silicone is that it dont want to bond to anything ever had any oil on it.
i have used oil base? gasket sealers that seem like they would work way better. something highly tacky never completely hardens maybe?
tips for replacing the pan welcome.

I didn't have to raise the engine on my '02 with the 4.7. It was a bit close, but not overly so. I just used a thick silicone rubber gasket with no sealant. Just be sure to clean the oil pick up tube while you have the pan off. Mine was stopped up causing pressure loss. I got to it before it ruined the engine.
