Engine squeak
Hi Gang,
I have a 2 month old 2005 hemi ram and in the last 2 weeks it has developed a squeak. I cant tell
if its coming from the engine or the exhuast. I took it in and the service guy says all hemi's do that.
Does anyone else have this sound or is the service guy b.s.ing me?
Thanks for your input.

Sounds like you need to find a new dealer.. Did they actually get the truck to cause the squeek when you took it in or did they make that comment on your description. From what they said it seems they are trying to take the lazy way out..
No, they never touched it. It almost sounds like the belt is loose
but its not. I will take your advice and take it to another dealer
for a second opinion. I will also check for any bolts that have
maybe loosen up around the exhaust pipe where it is attached to the engine
and the catalytic convertor. Its very frustrating, thanks for your input.

I had what sounds like a 'squeeky belt' noise yesterday. Didn't hear it today though. I didn't get a chance to investigate it yet. Post up if you find out what it is. It's definately got that 'belt' noise to it though but with only 9500m on my March '05 truck it shouldn't be!
I had a squeek from under the hood the day my truck rolled off the lot. It was difficult to replicate but I was able to for the service manager after she let me drive. They replaced both lower arms and most of the suspension up front before they finally figured out that it was a burr on the front sway bar that squeeked when I went over speed bumps slowly, thirty seconds with a grinder and it was fixed. Its a long shot but maybe it is your suspension.
Unfortunately no. My truck was stationary in my drive and I was outside of it. It sounds just like a belt. Very audible. I'll make a point of getting the hood up next time I hear it.

Hi Gang,
So I go back and ask the service guy,he seems to be the only guy ever there
for him to explain to me what this is and why its common with the hemi's. He says
its the pistons making this sound as the engines breaking in. He says they have
stripped engines down to to find out exactly where the sound is coming from and
they can only come up with is the way the pistons go up and down in the cylinders
is making that sound. He says there is absolutley nothing wrong with the engine.
I don't know, I am a very skeptical person so I am going to another dealer next
Monday. I will post what the next guy says.

Why in the world would a dealer tear down an engine and not get paid for it? I'm assuming they didn't get paid for it as there is no reason to tear this engine down to find a squeek. Better yet, they're just blowing smoke.
There is the traditional Hemi 'tick' though. Do a search and you'll find lots and lots of threads. If it is indeed a squeek from the belt, it will sound very different and as you describe.
Just a few questions...
1. When was it squeeking, at start up, after it had been running, etc?
2. Was it wet outside, ice, water, fog, etc?
3. What was the temp outside when you heard it vs. when you don't hear it?
These can help us clue in on where/what the noise is.
