I'm installing Moog sway bar links part# K80766 on my 2006 ram 2500 and I got the drivers side in no problem. But I can't get the right side in. The bottom bolt on the link won't go in all the way through the hole, maybe a quarter way then it seems like the bolt is too big. I double triple checked the part numbers and they are the right links. I don't get it.

 

Is it the bushing side (goes into the sway bar), or the part that attached to the frame? Since both sides aren't tapered, maybe you've got some rust build up in there?

 

Its the hole in the frame that it wont fit, the thicker bolt on the link goes through it. I did find it odd that the side I'm having trouble with didn't have a link at all. I just purchased the truck the other day. But the hole seems to be cleared. I even used some kroil to lubricate the hole and bolt to help it in but not luck. I tried hitting it not too hard with a rubber mallet to push it in but no luck either, I didn't want to him it too hard and mess up the grease fittings. I also didn't want to try and force it in too hard, so I wouldn't ruin the threads on the bolt.

 

About as far as it will go in.

 

Here are 3 ideas...

You could take the old one from the other side (since that side was missing) and use that to open it up, smack it in and out with a hammer to remove the obstruction.

You could measure the shaft and get a matching bolt and work that bolt through there with a hammer to remove the obstruction.

You could measure the shaft and then get a matching drill bit and chase the hole with that.
