Default 2005 Ram 1500 4x2 groan/moan during slow turns in reverse

This noise reared its head today while backing out of a parking space.

I do not hear the noise when going forward, turning slow and tight.

I have driven this truck all week and this noise is new as of today.

The only thing that has changed is the weather --extremely humid and wet today -- we finally received some rain today here north of DFW and the underside of the truck got wet for the first time in months. I just checked the u-joints while the trans was in N and they have zero play.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Might just be rust rubbing off of something after obtaining moisture? I'm not really sure what else it could be?

I just bought the exact same truck with only 31,000 KMS on it. Everything seems brand new, passed inspection with flying colors... But, I've heard the same thing at low speed backing up on my driveway.

The noise backing up would be common if you have the anti-spin differential. That noise is the clutch adjusting friction. Be sure you are using gear lube with limited slip additive.
