Yeah your right. The 2500 and 3500 have the HEMI (R), meaning they do not have the MDS. Basicly the MDS HEMIs are not as stout. LOL

Early 06 or late 06, it does not matter. All 2006 1500 Ram 5.7L have MDS standard, there is no option not to get it. The difference between 05 and 06 with respect to added weight of the MDS system is insignificant, and the added exhaust resonator makes it almost impossible for you to hear the reactivation of the four cyclinders. As for the factory putting an 05 engine in your 06, that is impossible as well. The biggest difference between 05 and the 06 is the Bus. 02-05 RAMs used the J1850 bus, and the 06 uses the CAN bus.

The 2006 Ram 1500 (with Hemi) gets better gas mileage through more than just the computer program. It has the MDS (as stated above), and a standard 3.21 gear ratio, compared to the standard 3.55 on the '05 and earlier Gen 3's.
