When you work on them for a living, yes absolutley, you learn what vehicles to avoid and the 4.7 is one of them for me. That is not to say some aren't reliable, but they have far more issues than the 5.7 or previous generation Magnums.

**** good catch, I didn't even see that it's a ¾ ton.

My experience has been (and this is pretty much with any engine), take basic care of it and it will last. By this I mean keeping oil and coolant topped off and running a good full synthetic. They don't take well to abuse and overheats...although I've overheated mine to the point of boiling the coolant once or twice... some dumb ****, like not closing the cap till it locked properly. Guess I realized fast enough. There are too many HIGH mileage ones running around to call them junk...I'm talking some with over 500K. This forum and others.... They are not without issues, but neither are the 5.7, 5.9, 5.2, etc.

Regardless of any other argument......that engine doesn't have enough @ss to pull a 6000+ lb truck around (much less anything in it or behind it). As someone said, there's a reason they didn't put them there.
