Evap issues cause misfires?
Hey all I'm looking for guidance, being so busy I got a light and just stopped AutoZone real quick to throw their scanner on and was told it was a clogged charcoal canister, I let it go for 2 weeks not looking into it. Welp now truck runs like crap, I throw on my scanner to find evap small leak, evap gross leak no flow and cylinder 2 misfire. Limp it up to O'Reilley's and by then misfire cylinder 7 and P0300 random misfires. I was thinking it could be the purge valve but then again thinking of that is stuck closed truck probably wouldn't even run so maybe it is a clogged canister, I'm working that out right now and have a smoke machine I'm about to hook up. My question I suppose is would those misfires be corrected after evap issue is resolved or did it foul out the plugs or worse coils? Thanks for any advice on this.... Workin2wheels ain't workin now
Ya Alright but I sure hope you're wrong, that'll probably continuously cause me headaches. I found some bad 90° fittings above the canister I changed, tested the purge valve and it came out closed, energized it and it opened, normally I would just install the new one anyway being it's in my hand but the girly spending all my money here Christmas and all I put the old one back in. Swapped #2 coil to #4 and sure enough 4 was then missing so put a new cheap O'Reilly's coil in and I'll order 8 better quality here soon.... don't know what happened to 7 missing and the random P0300 but the lights out and running good. Oh and I changed the gas cap on the front end of this project. Still isn't quite right though I have a feeling I'll get another evap thrown at me in a day or 2, I might end up doing just what you said and change the damn canister. Thanks for the input
