Stereo and Exhaust
Hi everyone, I am new to the hole forum thing and i am trying to figure out what kind of exhaust would sound mint on a 2004 ram 1500. any ideas? Plus i want to know what you think about pioneer and alpine stereo stuff. Do u like pioneer in it or do u like alpine. I have an alpine pop out tv already and dont know about subs and such. any ideas on that too.
I had a Borla exhaust system on my 05 Ram Hemi. Some people would say it was too quiet of a system, but I wanted somthing with a deep throaty sound and still be able to talk at a normal level inside the truck. I think the Borla was perfect for me. I plan on having the same put on my new 06 Ram. As for stereos, once again I'm probably in the minority for opions. I'm happy with the Infinity system it came with. I have always had good luck with Alpine in the past though.
I put a 40 series flowmaster on my 02 5.9L. I don't like the look of dual tailpipes so I dumped the exhaust about 6 inches after the muffler (it adds a nice echo too). It's not a true dual exhaust, so after the headers, the exhaust flows into a Y pipe, then to only one muffler. There's only one exit from the muffler. At idle, there is a nice low rumble. When I drive normal, it's not too loud inside the cab, but sounds great outside. But if you are like me and like to be obnoxious, when I floor it, after about 3500 rpm's, it is VERY loud. I have no complaints. With labor, the setup was about $125.
With regards to the sound system, all i can say is get ready to spend about a grand on just subs and an amp. I have a quad cab and i didn't want to have a sub box taking up the entire back seat. The stock infinity system has a great mid to high range sound, but absolutely no bass. The only option I found was a JL Audio stealth box. It is a custom order box directly from the JL factory. It fits perfectly in the little storage area under the back seat. It comes with a 10w3 sub and I have a 250 watt JL amp powering it. Although it is just a 10 in sub, it hits hard and compliments the factory speakers very well. One of the great things about it is that you can't see the box under the back seat so you don't have to worry about it getting stolen. Just the stealth box (with sub) was about $750 and the amp was $175- $250 (sorry, i don't remember). The bad thing about buying it is that you can't get it off the internet. You have to find a JL Audio dealer to order it from the factory for you, but it's worth the time and money. I'll try and upload some pictures of my setup tomorrow.

If you wanna go the cheap route just get a flowmaster 40 series with a single inlet/dual outlet. You can get one off ebay for around $65.00. I got one had some custom pipes bent, threw on some 4" tips and it sounds great. As for your stereo question either pioneer or alpine make a good quality product. I've had many pioneer products in the past and they always performed well..
i have an 04 1500 qc 4x4 about a yr ago i installed a gibson super truck side exit exhaust...it sounds awsome loud loud loud especialy under load... it lookd cool too with the exhaust exiting before the passengers side rear tire...online from proficientperformance.com
I have have an 04 quad cab with a hemi and I went with a Super 40 flowmaster (dual rear side exit) and I could not be happier. This thing is loud!!! I am used to deep muscle car exhaust sound from my 86 Camaro.
