Default 2005 ram 1500 rear shocks w/lift blocks

I'm planning to add 3" lift blocks to my truck, because as it is currently the truck squats... Mostly from the previous owner adding a leveling kit to the front of the truck and not lifting the rear. What I wanted to ask on here is, will the oem shocks work with 3" inch lift blocks or will I have to get a different brand of shocks for the added 3".

I know they will still work on the 2nd gens.... Not sure about the third gens. Could try unbolting one, jack the truck up and support it on the frame, so the axle is at full droop, then see how much further your shock extends.....

Just had an after thought after overthinking about this for a while. Since I'm not really adding a lift to the truck more so just adding the back half of a leveling kit. Probably won't need longer shocks, however got any recommendations on shocks? The ones currently on the truck need replaced, because they're pretty much shot.

Frequently used to transport 12-1500lbs of PV panels. With Ranchos upgrade, my truck was level from front to back.

Original OEM left. Notice the thickness and extended height.

Not sure if you have 2wd or 4X4. I replaced OEM shocks and struts on my 02 2wd with Ranchos. Skyjacker, Rancho, and Bilstein will accommodate a 2-3" lift without any modifications, off the rack. Skyjacker had the cheapest lift kit and shock combo when I got mine. KYB also has great OEM+ quality. I really like the ride and oversized build construction of my Ranchos around 2 years later. When shopped around ended up getting shocks & struts for $200 delivered.

Please don’t use lift blocks. They put undo stress on the leaf springs and if they are as bad as you say it’s only going to make them worse. It may come to a dangerous situation. Use add a leaf’s they come in different heights and make a huge difference. I put a 2” on my 05 when I put 3” lift spindles on my 05 in the front and it sits a little higher in the rear with no load and perfectly level with a load. Rides a whole lot better also
